The Best Of Carpenters - Live In Japan

The Best of the Carpenters - Live in Japan
Exactly the same DVD as the Carpenters in Performance. Only difference is the DVD packaging. Made in Argentina and presented in Dolby 2 0. Quality of sound and picture is good. For those who purchased the Carpenters in Performance it looks like the same concert .
Karen and Richard are great as ever. Thanks for the memories.

Awesome 1974 Carpenters Japanese Concert.
Was skeptical buying this DVD because in the past if Richard Carpenter isn't involved with the release of a Carpenters' related product, it's mostly not up to par. I believe this may not contain the whole concert as I've seen this released in other variations. The concert starts abruptly, with Karen's footage starting like it was on pause & it ends abruptly as well, but the sound & the footage is good. If you're a diehard Carpenters' fan, I saw get this but if you're a casual fan, skip this DVD until something better comes along, I have to say I enjoyed it really well...

I saw this show in Aoril 1974
This is pretty much the same concert I saw in Tucson in 1974, complete with a local children's chorus. I have to say that IMHO this is Karen at the top of her game. She looks so happy especially while behind the drum kit. Her voice is sheer perfection. Truly one of our greatest national treasures during the seventies. I still get mad every time I think of her dying at 32 but then I put on her sad songs and cry. I was in love with her when I was 14 and I still am. Richard's contributions are remarkable. Amount all his talents I think it his gift for arranging that is his greatest. A child prodigy and it shows. Karen's vocals wouldn't be near so honey golden on some songs and dark and deeply emotional on others without him. Just try listening to Karen sing "Where Do I go From Here" without chocking back the tears. Easily a 5 star rating.
