"It's About Time"
It seems like we have waited forever for Paramount to release season 3 of "The Streets of San Francisco" on DVD, but now it arrives in stores on July 3rd, 2012. To me this was probably the best season of the series as it featured some very controversial subject matter and an array of guest-stars that made this year an unforgettable one. Everyone from Mariette Hartley to John Davidson (in a blood-curdling performance as a female impersonator who goes on a killing spree) make appearances.
The following is a complete list of the first 12 episodes available on Volume 1 along with their airdates:
1. "One Last Shot", Sept. 12, 1974
2. "The Most Deadly Species", Sept. 19, 1974
3. "Target: Red", Sept. 26, 1974
4. "Masked of Death", Oct. 3, 1974
5. "I Ain't Marchin' Anymore", Oct. 10, 1974
6. "One Chance to Live", Oct. 17, 1974
7. "Jacob's Boy", Oct. 24, 1974
8. "Flags of Terror", Oct. 31, 1974
9. "Cry Help!", Nov. 7, 1974

Stone and Keller just keep getting better
We have all waited years for CBS issue Season 3 of The Streets of San Francisco, and it was well worth the wait. I just finished watching Disc 1 of this set and it is top notch! The stories, the guest actors, the audio and video are all terrific. I especially liked the last episode on Disc 1 "Mask Of Death" with John Davidson as a female impersonator serial killer. He was creepy and played the part quite well. The other episodes were great as well. I just never get tired of this show, and CBS has once again done a great job with the audio and video on these discs. I don't know if they just store their reels in caves somewhere with optimum conditions for film, or have the best restorers available. I can never find any flaw with a CBS Video release when it comes to any audio or video aspect. They do an excellent job, just as Stone and Keller do as detectives. I also bought the second Volume to this season, and will watch it once I am done with Vol. 1. Both volumes of Season 4...
Q stands for Quality and Quinn Martin Productions
You know you have a quality show if Quinn Martin's name is attached to it.He had produced "The Untouchables,"The Fugitive,"The Invaders" to name a few. A brilliant cop show which was hard and gritty at the time with the magnificent Karl Malden and Michael Douglas starring in it. The show ran for five seasons. All to released by CBS/Paramount.This, of course, is season three.Douglas would leave at the beginning of season five to be replaced by Richard Hatch, before his days on Battlestar Galactica,
The San Francisco skyline is used to good effect in this series.Loads of car chases and shoot-outs on these streets.Plenty of guest stars, too, like Richard Egan, Richard Basehart, Joseph Cotton and Henry Darrow adorn this series.
A quality series not to be missed.
